Everything you need to know...

Description

In Australia, most people are closer to snake country than they think — and most standard first aid kits don't carry enough bandage length to do the job properly. The Assurance Snake Bite Kit is the entry point to our house-built snake bite range: compact, correct, and ready to go wherever you go.

Every kit is built around pressure immobilisation technique — the ANZCOR-recommended first aid response for serious Australian snake bites — with tension indicator bandages and step-by-step instructions so you can act with confidence under pressure.

  • Two tension indicator bandages (10cm x 4.5m each) Printed rectangles turn to squares when compression is correct. Too loose and the technique doesn't work. Too tight and you cause harm. The indicator removes that guesswork — which matters when someone is frightened and shaking beside you. Understand why technique is everything before you need it.
  • Aluminium foam splint, cotton calico triangular bandage, and instant ice pack Most Australian snake bites happen on the lower limbs — and correct immobilisation of the entire limb is critical to slowing venom movement. This kit has what you need to do that properly, including an ice pack for redback spider bites where cold application is indicated.
  • Permanent marker and A4 step-by-step instructions Mark the time and bite site on the bandage while it's applied — this is critical information for the treating hospital. The instruction card is written for Australian conditions, and a QR code links directly to the Australian Bites and Stings app for on-the-spot reference.
  • Compact khaki MOLLE-compatible stingray bag Attaches to a pack, belt clip, or sits in a glove box. Sized for everyday carry without bulk. Packed and inspected by hand in Dubbo, NSW — by a team that includes a first aid trainer with 18 years of Australian emergency care experience who has actually taught this technique.
This kit is the right starting point for walkers, day-trippers, vehicle kits, and anyone who wants solid snake bite coverage without a larger pack. If you spend time on rural properties, farms, with pets, or in remote areas, step up to the Snake Bite Plus or Snake Bite Max — both carry more bandages and broader envenomation coverage for higher-risk environments. Also suited to funnel-web spider bites, blue-ringed octopus stings, and cone shell stings — all managed with pressure immobilisation in Australia.

Workplace Compliant

Adding this snake bite kit to a standard workplace kit, will meet risk assesments for outdoor work.

FAQs

What is included in the Assurance Snake Bite Kit?

The kit includes two tension indicator bandages (10cm x 4.5m each), an aluminium foam splint, cotton calico triangular bandage, instant ice pack, permanent marker, A4 snake bite first aid instructions with QR code, and a compact khaki MOLLE-compatible stingray bag.

Is this kit suitable for a full adult leg bite?

The standard Snake Bite Kit carries two shorter bandage rolls suited to arm bites and smaller limbs. For full adult lower limb immobilisation, the Snake Bite Plus carries two full-length 10.5 metre bandages which are recommended for leg bites in adults.

Can this kit be used for spider bites?

Yes. Pressure immobilisation is the ANZCOR-recommended first aid response for funnel-web spider bites, blue-ringed octopus stings, and cone shell stings as well as snake bites. It is not recommended for redback spider bites, jellyfish stings, or stonefish stings.

How does the tension indicator work?

The bandage has printed rectangles that turn into squares when the correct compression has been reached. This removes the guesswork from applying pressure immobilisation under stress — too loose and the technique does not work, too tight and you risk restricting circulation.

Where is this kit made?

Every kit is packed and inspected by hand in Dubbo, NSW by a team that includes a first aid trainer with 18 years of Australian emergency care experience.

How often should I check and replace the contents?

Check the kit at least annually and replace any used or expired items promptly. Refill components are available at assurancefirstaidkits.com.au.
