Description

The most compact way to carry snake bite first aid capability in Australia — sized for a backpack pocket, day bag, or jacket. This Aero-brand kit carries the core components of pressure immobilisation technique and nothing more, developed in conjunction with the Australian Venom Council.

It does not include a splint, ice pack, or marker. For anyone spending time on rural properties, with children or pets outdoors, or heading into areas where response times are longer, the Snake Bite Plus or Snake Bite Max carry the full kit needed for those environments.

  • Two AEROFORM tension indicator bandages (10cm x 4m each) Developed in conjunction with the Australian Venom Council. The printed tension indicator removes the guesswork — rectangles turn to squares when compression is correct. Most Australian snake bites happen on the lower limbs. Note: at 4m per roll these bandages are suited to arm bites and smaller limbs. For full adult leg immobilisation, the longer bandages in the Snake Bite Plus are the better choice.
  • Cotton triangular bandage and low adherent dressing The triangular bandage supports limb immobilisation and can be used as a sling for upper limb bites. Read our guide on why practising pressure immobilisation before you need it matters — correct application under stress is harder than it looks.
  • First aid instruction leaflet — Australian conditions Step-by-step guidance for pressure immobilisation covering Australian snake bites, funnel-web spider bites, blue-ringed octopus stings, and cone shell stings. Clear enough to follow under pressure, written for the Australian context.
This kit is the right choice for personal carry — day walks, trail running, backpack, or vehicle glove box — where you want basic snake bite coverage at a low price point. For anyone needing a splint, ice pack, marker, gloves, or full adult limb bandage length, step up to the Assurance Snake Bite Plus — built and inspected by hand in Dubbo, NSW by a team with 18 years of Australian emergency care experience behind them.

FAQs

What is included in the Snake Bite First Aid Kit?

Two AEROFORM tension indicator bandages (10cm x 4m each), cotton triangular bandage, low adherent dressing, and first aid instruction leaflet. Developed in conjunction with the Australian Venom Council.

Are the 4 metre bandages long enough for an adult leg bite?

No. At 4 metres per roll these bandages are suited to arm bites and smaller limbs. For full adult lower limb immobilisation, the Snake Bite Plus carries two full-length 10.5 metre bandages which are the correct length.

What is this kit best used for?

Personal carry — day walks, trail running, backpack, or vehicle glove box — where you want basic snake bite coverage at an accessible price point.

Does this kit include a splint or ice pack?

No. This is the entry-level kit and does not include a splint, ice pack, or marker. The Snake & Spider First Aid Kit and Assurance Snake Bite Plus both include these items.

Is this kit suitable for spider bites?

Yes. The pressure immobilisation technique applies to funnel-web spider bites, blue-ringed octopus stings, and cone shell stings. It is not recommended for redback spider bites, jellyfish stings, or stonefish stings.
