Description

Butterfly closures handle small lacerations. Wound closure strips handle longer ones — the cuts that run further than a butterfly can bridge, or where multiple strips need to be applied across the wound length to hold the edges together evenly. These 6mm x 100mm Wound Closure Strips are designed for longer or deeper shallow lacerations where controlled, even wound edge apposition across the full wound length is what supports clean healing and reduces scarring.

Sterile, latex-free, hypoallergenic, and flexible — applied by peeling, placing perpendicular to the wound, and pressing. No training required to apply correctly. A card of 10 strips — enough to manage a longer wound with multiple strips, or several smaller closures from a single card.

  • 6mm x 100mm — designed for longer lacerations that butterfly closures cannot span At 100mm, these strips bridge longer wounds with a single strip or allow multiple strips to be applied across the wound length in parallel for even closure. The 6mm width provides a firm adhesive contact surface on both sides of the wound without being so wide that the strip interferes with wound drainage. The correct tool for lacerations that are too long for a butterfly closure or standard band-aid to manage effectively.
  • Holds wound edges in apposition — reduces scarring and infection risk Applied perpendicular to the wound, each strip draws the wound edges together and holds them in position while the wound heals from below. Keeping wound edges in apposition reduces the gap the tissue needs to close, producing a narrower scar and lowering the risk of infection compared to a wound left open under a dressing. This product is not a substitute for direct medical attention — seek medical assessment for deep, gaping, or heavily contaminated wounds.
  • Hypoallergenic, latex-free, flexible and breathable Latex-free adhesive suitable for all skin types. Hypoallergenic formulation reduces reaction risk at a wound site that is already compromised. Flexible, breathable material moves with the skin rather than lifting at the edges — maintaining closure through normal activity during the healing period without the rigidity that causes edge lift in lower-quality closure strips.
  • Card of 10 sterile strips — WHS compliant, individually packed 10 sterile strips per card, individually packed to maintain sterility. WHS compliant for workplace first aid kit inclusion. Peel, place perpendicular to the wound, and press — no specialist training required for correct application. Ships from Dubbo, NSW within 2 business days.
WHS requires first aid kits to be audited at least annually and after every incident. Use our First Aid Restock Form to track what has been used and stay audit-ready. FAQs

What are wound closure strips used for?
Wound closure strips are adhesive strips applied perpendicular to a laceration to draw the wound edges together and hold them in apposition while healing occurs. They are used for longer or shallow lacerations where sutures are not required — reducing scarring and infection risk by keeping the wound edges closed. These 6mm x 100mm strips are designed for longer wounds that butterfly closures cannot span.

What is the difference between wound closure strips and butterfly closures?
Both draw wound edges together, but the format and application differ. Butterfly closures are shaped to concentrate tension at the wound edges and are suited to shorter lacerations. Wound closure strips are longer straight strips applied perpendicular to the wound in parallel, suited to longer lacerations where multiple strips need to be spaced along the wound length for even closure. For a wound longer than a butterfly can bridge, closure strips are the correct tool.

How do I apply wound closure strips correctly?
Clean and dry the wound and surrounding skin thoroughly before application. Peel the strip from its backing, place it perpendicular to the wound with equal length on both sides, and press firmly to secure. Apply additional strips in parallel at regular intervals along the wound length. Do not apply strips along the length of the wound — they must cross it to draw the edges together. This product is not a substitute for direct medical attention from a healthcare practitioner.

How many strips come in a pack?
Each card contains 10 sterile wound closure strips measuring 6mm x 100mm. This provides enough strips to manage a longer wound requiring multiple applications, or several shorter wound closures from a single card.

Are these strips latex-free?
Yes. These wound closure strips have a latex-free, hypoallergenic adhesive suitable for all skin types including sensitive skin and environments where latex sensitivity cannot be confirmed in advance.

When should I seek medical attention instead of using closure strips?
Seek medical attention for deep wounds, wounds under significant tension, wounds that will not stay closed with strips, heavily contaminated wounds, wounds on joints or high-movement areas, wounds that show signs of infection, or any wound you are uncertain about. Wound closure strips are a first aid measure for minor lacerations — they are not a substitute for direct medical attention from a healthcare practitioner.

How quickly does this ship?
Wound Closure Strips ship from Dubbo, NSW within 2 business days.

About Assurance First Aid Kits

It started back in 2008 when Samantha, a first aid trainer, kept getting the same question from her students: "But what kit should I actually buy?" After years of recommending products that didn't quite hit the mark, she and her partner Dan decided to build one themselves — right here in Dubbo, NSW.

Every kit is hand-assembled by Dan in our Dubbo store using 85% Australian-made components. No cheap fillers, no imported bulk packs — just quality gear that works when it matters most.

Samantha still trains, alongside Max and Neil, delivering nationally recognised first aid courses in Dubbo and surrounding areas. That real-world training experience is baked into every kit we build.

We're not a warehouse. We're not a big box retailer. We're a small Australian team who genuinely care whether you're prepared.
