Description

Standard adhesive tape pulls at skin on removal — particularly on elderly, paediatric, and sensitive skin where the adhesive bond is stronger than the fragile skin surface. Microporous paper tape secures dressings, gauze, padding, and tubing reliably without the aggressive adhesive that causes skin tears and pain on removal. It is breathable, hypoallergenic, and tears cleanly by hand — the tape that gets used in every wound care situation where the skin needs to be respected as well as the dressing secured.

At 2.5cm wide and 5m long, this is the standard first aid tape size included in our Type A and Type B workplace restock packs. A WHS-required kit item that is also one of the most consistently useful tools in any first aid kit — securing wound pads, holding conforming bandages, keeping dressings in place on awkward anatomy, and fixing gauze around joints and contoured surfaces where adhesive strips cannot reach.

  • Microporous paper — breathable, hypoallergenic, gentle on removal The microporous construction allows moisture vapour to escape through the tape, reducing maceration under dressings secured with tape over extended periods. Hypoallergenic adhesive has a low irritation risk for sensitive, elderly, and paediatric skin. Removes cleanly without the skin tearing that aggressive plastic tapes cause — particularly relevant on fragile skin or wounds that will be dressed and redressed over several days.
  • Tears by hand — no scissors needed, fast application under pressure Microporous paper tape tears cleanly across the roll by hand — removing the need to locate scissors during a first aid response. In a wound care situation where the first aider may be gloved and working quickly, the ability to tear tape without tools reduces application time and removes a step that can introduce delay or require the first aider to put down what they are holding.
  • 2.5cm x 5m — the standard size for first aid kit inclusion Wide enough to secure wound pads, gauze swabs, and conforming bandage ends effectively. Long enough for multiple applications across a full wound care procedure or several separate dressing applications from a single roll. The standard inclusion size in WHS-compliant workplace restock packs — replace after each kit restock cycle.
  • Latex-free — suited to all skin types and shared workplace kits Latex-free construction eliminates allergy risk in shared first aid kits where individual patient sensitivities cannot be confirmed. Suitable for use on all skin types across workplace, school, sports, and family first aid environments. WHS compliant and required in every compliant workplace kit. Ships from Dubbo, NSW within 2 business days.
A standard restock item for every WHS-compliant workplace, school, sports, and family first aid kit. Use our First Aid Restock Form to track what has been used and stay audit-ready. Browse the full first aid kit supplies range for individual restock items.

FAQs

What is microporous paper tape used for in first aid?
Microporous paper tape is used to secure wound dressings, gauze swabs, padding, and conforming bandage ends in place without the aggressive adhesive of standard plastic tapes. It is breathable, hypoallergenic, and tears by hand — making it suitable for securing dressings on sensitive, elderly, and paediatric skin and in any situation where gentle adhesion and clean removal are required.

What is the difference between microporous paper tape and standard adhesive tape?
Standard adhesive tape uses an aggressive adhesive that can tear fragile skin on removal, does not breathe, and may cause skin reactions with extended wear. Microporous paper tape uses a hypoallergenic adhesive that secures reliably but removes gently, allows moisture vapour to escape through the tape to reduce maceration, and tears by hand without scissors. For dressing retention in first aid and clinical settings, microporous paper is the correct tape format.

Is adhesive tape required in WHS-compliant first aid kits?
Yes. Hypoallergenic adhesive tape is a required inclusion in WHS-compliant workplace first aid kits under the SafeWork Australia Code of Practice for First Aid. Microporous paper tape meets that requirement and is included as standard in our Type A and Type B workplace restock packs.

Can this tape be torn by hand?
Yes. Microporous paper tape tears cleanly across the roll by hand without scissors — a practical advantage in a first aid situation where the responder may be gloved or need both hands free for wound management.

Is this tape latex-free?
Yes. White Microporous Paper Tape is latex-free and hypoallergenic — suitable for use on all skin types in shared workplace, school, sports, and family first aid kits.

How quickly does this ship?

About Assurance First Aid Kits

It started back in 2008 when Samantha, a first aid trainer, kept getting the same question from her students: "But what kit should I actually buy?" After years of recommending products that didn't quite hit the mark, she and her partner Dan decided to build one themselves — right here in Dubbo, NSW.

Every kit is hand-assembled by Dan in our Dubbo store using 85% Australian-made components. No cheap fillers, no imported bulk packs — just quality gear that works when it matters most.

Samantha still trains, alongside Max and Neil, delivering nationally recognised first aid courses in Dubbo and surrounding areas. That real-world training experience is baked into every kit we build.

We're not a warehouse. We're not a big box retailer. We're a small Australian team who genuinely care whether you're prepared.
