Description

A standard fabric or plastic dressing covers a wound but does not let you see it. The AeroFilm Plus Waterproof Island Dressing does both — the transparent AeroFilm backing allows the wound and fluid level to be monitored without removing the dressing, so the dressing stays in place until it actually needs changing rather than being removed for inspection and replaced unnecessarily. For post-operative wounds, suture sites, cuts, and grazes where minimising dressing changes reduces healing disruption, this is a meaningful clinical advantage.

Waterproof, breathable, hospital-grade, latex-free, and available in five sizes from 4x5cm to 15x20cm — as a single dressing or a box of 20 for clinical and high-use settings. The SupaSorb absorbent pad manages wound exudate without maceration, and the integrated frame applicator allows crease-free application that ensures full adhesion first time.

  • Transparent AeroFilm backing — monitor wound without removing the dressing The transparent film allows the user to check fluid levels, wound condition, and early signs of infection through the dressing without disturbing the wound site. Unnecessary dressing removal disrupts healing, introduces contamination risk, and causes pain — particularly on post-operative and delicate wound sites. Transparency means the dressing stays in place until it genuinely needs changing.
  • SupaSorb wound pad — absorbs exudate, non-adherent, reduces maceration The SupaSorb absorbent pad drains wound exudate away from the wound surface, reducing the skin maceration that occurs when fluid pools under a dressing. The non-adherent surface prevents the pad from bonding to the wound on removal — minimising trauma and pain at the dressing change. Suitable for post-operative wounds, suture sites, cuts, and grazes where the wound surface is delicate.
  • Waterproof, breathable, SupaBond hypoallergenic adhesive — stays on through washing The AeroFilm waterproof backing keeps the wound protected through showering and hand washing without detaching or allowing water ingress. Breathable construction allows moisture vapour to escape, preventing the build-up that accelerates maceration under occlusive dressings. SupaBond hypoallergenic adhesive provides secure adhesion over body contours with low irritation risk — latex-free and suitable for sensitive skin.
  • Integrated frame applicator — crease-free application, five sizes available The frame applicator enables crease-free positioning and full adhesion on first application — important for waterproof dressings where creases break the seal. Available as single dressings or boxes of 20 in five sizes: 4x5cm, 6x7cm, 9x10cm, 10x12cm, and 15x20cm. Select the size that covers the wound with adequate overlap on all sides. Ships from Dubbo, NSW within 2 business days.
AeroFilm should not be used on infected wounds unless under the supervision of a healthcare practitioner. Apply and remove carefully from sensitive or fragile skin. This product is not a substitute for direct medical attention from a healthcare practitioner. FAQs

What is an island dressing used for?
An island dressing is a self-contained dressing with an absorbent wound pad at the centre and an adhesive border that secures it directly to the skin without separate tape or bandage. The AeroFilm Plus Waterproof Island Dressing is specifically suited to post-operative wounds, suture sites, cuts, and grazes where waterproof protection, wound monitoring through the transparent backing, and minimal dressing changes are the priority.

Why is a transparent dressing better for post-operative and suture wounds?
The transparent AeroFilm backing allows wound condition, fluid levels, and early signs of infection to be monitored without removing the dressing. Unnecessary dressing removal disrupts healing, introduces contamination risk, and causes pain on delicate wound sites. Transparency means the dressing stays in place until it genuinely needs changing — maximising the life of each dressing and minimising wound disturbance.

Is this dressing waterproof?
Yes. The AeroFilm Plus is waterproof — the wound remains protected through showering and hand washing without water ingress or dressing detachment. The breathable construction allows moisture vapour to escape, preventing maceration under the dressing during extended wear.

What sizes are available?
AeroFilm Plus Waterproof Island Dressings are available in five sizes: 4x5cm, 6x7cm, 9x10cm, 10x12cm, and 15x20cm. Each size is available as a single dressing or a box of 20. Select the size that covers the wound with adequate overlap on all sides.

Is this dressing suitable for infected wounds?
No. AeroFilm should not be used on infected wounds unless under the supervision of a healthcare practitioner. If redness, increased discharge, warmth, or other signs of infection develop, discontinue use and seek medical advice promptly.

Is this dressing latex-free?
Yes. AeroFilm Plus Waterproof Island Dressings are latex-free with a hypoallergenic SupaBond adhesive — suitable for sensitive skin and environments where latex sensitivity cannot be confirmed.

How quickly does this ship?
AeroFilm Plus Waterproof Island Dressings ship from Dubbo, NSW within 2 business days.

About Assurance First Aid Kits

It started back in 2008 when Samantha, a first aid trainer, kept getting the same question from her students: "But what kit should I actually buy?" After years of recommending products that didn't quite hit the mark, she and her partner Dan decided to build one themselves — right here in Dubbo, NSW.

Every kit is hand-assembled by Dan in our Dubbo store using 85% Australian-made components. No cheap fillers, no imported bulk packs — just quality gear that works when it matters most.

Samantha still trains, alongside Max and Neil, delivering nationally recognised first aid courses in Dubbo and surrounding areas. That real-world training experience is baked into every kit we build.

We're not a warehouse. We're not a big box retailer. We're a small Australian team who genuinely care whether you're prepared.
