Description

Shock kills — and one of the ways it does is through heat loss. When someone is injured, unwell, or in shock, their body loses the ability to regulate temperature and heat loss accelerates rapidly. A thermal blanket is not a comfort item — it is a clinical intervention that reduces heat loss, helps stabilise core temperature, and buys critical time before emergency services arrive.

This 140 x 210cm foil-lined thermal blanket covers a full-size adult completely, folds down to fit in any first aid kit, and is sealed for storage. A WHS compliance requirement for all workplace first aid kits — and one of the most important single items in the kit when a serious incident occurs outdoors, on a remote site, or in cold conditions.

  • Foil-lined to reflect body heat — reduces thermal loss in shock and exposure The foil lining reflects radiated body heat back toward the patient, significantly reducing heat loss from the body surface. In shock, trauma, or cold exposure, maintaining core temperature is a priority intervention — a thermal blanket is the tool that makes that possible in a first aid setting without specialist equipment. Used correctly, it buys time until ambulance arrival.
  • 140 x 210cm — full adult coverage Large enough to cover an adult completely from head to toe. Size matters — a thermal blanket that does not fully cover the patient leaves significant body surface area exposed and reduces effectiveness. At 140 x 210cm this blanket does the job it is supposed to do, not a scaled-down version that covers half a person.
  • Lightweight, compact, and sealed for first aid kit storage Folds down to a compact sealed package that fits in any first aid kit, vehicle kit, or pack without taking up meaningful space. Sealed packaging maintains the blanket in ready-to-use condition in storage — no degradation from moisture or contamination before it is needed. Single-use and replaced after every deployment.
  • WHS compliance requirement for all workplace first aid kits A thermal blanket is a mandatory item in WHS-compliant workplace first aid kits under the SafeWork Australia Code of Practice. No exceptions — a kit without one does not meet the standard. Replace after every use so the kit is always compliant and ready. Ships from Dubbo, NSW within 2 business days.
A thermal blanket is one of the items most commonly missing from restocked workplace kits — used in an incident and not replaced before the next audit. Use our First Aid Restock Form to track what has been used and stay audit-ready. Browse the full first aid kit supplies range for individual restock items.

FAQs

What is a thermal blanket used for in first aid?
A thermal blanket is used to reduce heat loss and help stabilise core temperature in a patient experiencing shock, trauma, cold exposure, or sudden illness. When someone is injured or in shock, their body loses the ability to regulate temperature and heat loss accelerates rapidly. Wrapping a patient in a thermal blanket reflects body heat back and reduces heat loss from the body surface, buying critical time before emergency services arrive.

How does a foil thermal blanket work?
The foil lining reflects radiated body heat back toward the patient rather than allowing it to dissipate into the surrounding environment. This significantly reduces the rate of heat loss from the body surface without generating additional heat. The effect is most significant in cold, windy, or wet conditions where heat loss would otherwise accelerate rapidly.

Is a thermal blanket required in WHS-compliant first aid kits?
Yes. A thermal blanket is a mandatory item in WHS-compliant workplace first aid kits under the SafeWork Australia Code of Practice for First Aid. A kit without a thermal blanket does not meet the standard and will be identified in a WHS audit. Replace after every use to maintain compliance.

What size is this thermal blanket and will it cover an adult?
This thermal blanket measures 140 x 210cm when unfolded — large enough to cover a full-size adult completely from head to toe. Full coverage is important for effectiveness, as leaving significant body surface area exposed reduces the blanket's ability to limit heat loss.

Is this thermal blanket single-use?
Yes. This is a single-use thermal blanket sealed for first aid kit storage. Once deployed, it should be replaced promptly to keep the kit compliant and ready for the next incident. Replace used blankets as part of your regular kit restock.

How quickly does this ship?

About Assurance First Aid Kits

It started back in 2008 when Samantha, a first aid trainer, kept getting the same question from her students: "But what kit should I actually buy?" After years of recommending products that didn't quite hit the mark, she and her partner Dan decided to build one themselves — right here in Dubbo, NSW.

Every kit is hand-assembled by Dan in our Dubbo store using 85% Australian-made components. No cheap fillers, no imported bulk packs — just quality gear that works when it matters most.

Samantha still trains, alongside Max and Neil, delivering nationally recognised first aid courses in Dubbo and surrounding areas. That real-world training experience is baked into every kit we build.

We're not a warehouse. We're not a big box retailer. We're a small Australian team who genuinely care whether you're prepared.
