Description

Most burns in Australian kitchens, homes, and workplaces are not large-area burns — they are hands, forearms, feet, and smaller surface areas from hot oil splashes, kettle spills, oven contact, and hot tool surfaces. The 20x20cm Polyethylene Burn Sheet is sized for those burns — compact enough to carry in a kitchen drawer, glovebox, or standard first aid kit, and large enough to cover the wound areas where most everyday burns actually occur.

Applied after the 20-minute cool running water step, the sterile non-adherent sheet creates a clean, low-friction barrier that protects the burn site from contamination, friction, and further exposure during treatment or transport. Can be trimmed with sterile scissors for smaller wound areas without compromising effectiveness. Read the correct burn first aid sequence — the burn sheet is the coverage step after cooling is complete.

  • 20x20cm — sized for hands, forearms, feet, and minor burn areas The most common burn locations in Australian homes and workplaces are hands and forearms — hot oil, steam, oven surfaces, and hot tools. The 20x20cm format provides adequate coverage for these locations without the excess of a larger sheet. Compact enough for a kitchen drawer, glovebox, standard first aid kit, or home medicine cabinet — the correct size to have accessible where minor burns are most likely to happen. Read about hidden burn risks for children in Australian homes and why having the right coverage on hand matters.
  • Sterile, non-adherent polyethylene — protects without sticking The polyethylene surface does not bond to the burn wound — critical for a wound where adhering material causes additional pain and tissue damage on removal. Sterile sealed packaging confirms the sheet is uncontaminated at the point of application. Low-friction surface minimises contact trauma when the patient moves the injured area during transport or treatment.
  • Can be trimmed to size — flexible coverage for irregular wound areas The sheet can be cut with sterile scissors to fit smaller or irregular burn areas without compromising effectiveness. This flexibility makes the 20x20cm format practical across a range of minor burn presentations — finger burns, palm burns, and localised contact burns that do not require full sheet coverage.
  • Flat-packed, individually sterile sealed — suited to kitchens, vehicles, and home kits Flat-packed for compact storage in any location where minor burns are a realistic risk — commercial and home kitchens, vehicle gloveboxes, workshop first aid kits, camping packs, and standard home first aid kits. Applied after the 20-minute water cooling step — not instead of it. For serious burns, call 000. Ships from Dubbo, NSW within 2 business days.
For larger burns requiring full arm, leg, or torso coverage, the 60x90cm and 75x75cm burn sheets are available in the same range. The 20x20cm is the compact everyday format for minor burn coverage in home, kitchen, and vehicle kits. Download the Safety Data Sheet for full product specifications. FAQs

What is the 20x20cm burn sheet used for?
The 20x20cm polyethylene burn sheet is used to cover minor burn areas — hands, forearms, feet, and other smaller burn sites — after the 20-minute cool running water step is complete. It provides a sterile non-adherent barrier that protects the burn wound from contamination, friction, and further exposure during treatment or transport to hospital.

Is this burn sheet a treatment for burns?
No. This is a sterile covering applied after initial burn first aid is complete — not a treatment in itself. The first and most important step for any burn is 20 minutes of cool running water. After cooling is complete, apply the burn sheet to protect the wound site. Do not apply a covering before the water cooling step is finished.

Can the sheet be cut to fit smaller burn areas?
Yes. The 20x20cm sheet can be trimmed with sterile scissors to fit smaller or irregular burn areas without compromising its effectiveness as a sterile barrier.

What size burns is the 20x20cm format suited to?
The 20x20cm format is suited to minor burns on hands, forearms, feet, and other smaller body areas — hot oil splashes, steam burns, kettle spills, oven contact, and hot tool or surface burns. For burns covering a full arm, leg, or significant torso area, the 60x90cm or 75x75cm formats provide the larger coverage required.

Is this burn sheet safe for children?
Yes. The polyethylene burn sheet is non-toxic, non-adherent, and safe for use on adults and children of all ages. For any burn injury in a child, seek immediate medical assessment.

How quickly does this ship?
The 20x20cm Polyethylene Burn Sheet ships from Dubbo, NSW within 2 business days.

About Assurance First Aid Kits

It started back in 2008 when Samantha, a first aid trainer, kept getting the same question from her students: "But what kit should I actually buy?" After years of recommending products that didn't quite hit the mark, she and her partner Dan decided to build one themselves — right here in Dubbo, NSW.

Every kit is hand-assembled by Dan in our Dubbo store using 85% Australian-made components. No cheap fillers, no imported bulk packs — just quality gear that works when it matters most.

Samantha still trains, alongside Max and Neil, delivering nationally recognised first aid courses in Dubbo and surrounding areas. That real-world training experience is baked into every kit we build.

We're not a warehouse. We're not a big box retailer. We're a small Australian team who genuinely care whether you're prepared.
