Description

No fridge, no freezer, no preparation — squeeze to activate and apply immediately. Instant ice packs deliver cold therapy on the spot for sprains, strains, swelling, bruising, and soft tissue injuries, wherever the injury happens. On a worksite, a sports field, at an event, or anywhere without refrigeration access, this is the cold therapy option that is actually there when you need it.

Required in WHS-compliant first aid kits for physical and high-risk environments, and included as standard in most of our workplace and sports kits for exactly that reason. If your kit has used one or is coming up for its annual restock, replace it before the next incident — not after.

  • Instant activation — squeeze, shake, and apply A single squeeze triggers the internal chemical reaction that delivers immediate cold therapy. No refrigeration, no waiting, no preparation required. Ready to use the moment it is needed — which is the only moment that counts with a soft tissue injury.
  • Effective for sprains, strains, swelling, bruising, and soft tissue injuries Cold therapy in the first minutes after a soft tissue injury reduces swelling, limits bruising, and manages pain before the casualty can be assessed further. For redback spider bites, cold application is also the ANZCOR-recommended first aid response — an instant ice pack covers both.
  • Compact, portable, and fits in any kit Sized to fit in a standard first aid kit bag, tackle box, vehicle kit, or sports bag. Single-use and self-contained — no leaks, no mess, no maintenance. Compact enough to carry in a kit without taking up space that other items need.
  • Required for WHS compliance in physical and high-risk environments First aid kits in active or high-risk workplaces are expected to include cold packs for injury management under WHS guidelines. If your kit is missing one after use, it is not fully stocked — and a kit that is not fully stocked is not compliant. Ships from Dubbo, NSW within 2 business days.
Used by first aid officers, coaches, site supervisors, and safety staff across Australia as a standard restock item. Stay audit-ready with our First Aid Restock Form to track what has been used and what needs replacing. Download the Safety Data Sheet for full product and chemical information. Browse the full first aid kit supplies range for individual restock items.

FAQs

How does an instant ice pack work?
Instant ice packs use an internal chemical reaction triggered by squeezing the pack. Squeezing ruptures an inner pouch, mixing two chemicals that produce an endothermic reaction — absorbing heat and rapidly cooling the outer surface. No refrigeration or preparation is required. The pack is ready to apply immediately after activation.

What injuries are instant ice packs used for?
Instant ice packs are used for sprains, strains, swelling, bruising, and soft tissue injuries where immediate cold therapy reduces inflammation and manages pain. Cold application is also the ANZCOR-recommended first aid response for redback spider bites, making an instant ice pack relevant for both injury and envenomation management.

Are instant ice packs required for WHS-compliant first aid kits?
Yes. First aid kits in active or high-risk workplaces are expected to include cold packs for soft tissue injury management under WHS guidelines. A kit that has used its ice pack and not been restocked is not fully compliant. Instant ice packs are included as standard in most WHS-compliant workplace and sports kits.

How long does an instant ice pack stay cold?
Instant ice packs typically remain cold for 15 to 20 minutes after activation, which is sufficient for immediate first aid application. They are single-use only and cannot be reactivated. For the full product specification, download the Safety Data Sheet at assurancefirstaidkits.com.au.

Can instant ice packs be applied directly to skin?
No. Instant ice packs should not be applied directly to bare skin as they can cause cold burns. Always place a cloth or bandage between the pack and the skin, and do not apply for extended periods. Refer to the included instructions and Safety Data Sheet for correct application guidance.

How quickly does this ship?
Instant ice packs ship from Dubbo, NSW within 2 business days.

About Assurance First Aid Kits

It started back in 2008 when Samantha, a first aid trainer, kept getting the same question from her students: "But what kit should I actually buy?" After years of recommending products that didn't quite hit the mark, she and her partner Dan decided to build one themselves — right here in Dubbo, NSW.

Every kit is hand-assembled by Dan in our Dubbo store using 85% Australian-made components. No cheap fillers, no imported bulk packs — just quality gear that works when it matters most.

Samantha still trains, alongside Max and Neil, delivering nationally recognised first aid courses in Dubbo and surrounding areas. That real-world training experience is baked into every kit we build.

We're not a warehouse. We're not a big box retailer. We're a small Australian team who genuinely care whether you're prepared.
