Description

A first aid guide is not optional in a WHS-compliant workplace kit — it is mandatory. Under the SafeWork Australia Code of Practice, every workplace first aid kit must include a first aid reference guide, and that guide must be present and legible at every audit. This printed booklet is the comprehensive format — more detailed than a compact fold-out leaflet, covering a broader range of emergency procedures in clear, plain language written for first aid officers and supervisors who need to act correctly under pressure.

Written for real emergencies, not textbook theory. The language is direct, the steps are clear, and the format is designed for someone who needs to find the right procedure quickly rather than read from the beginning. A required inclusion in every workplace first aid kit — and the reference that supports the first aider when recall is affected by stress.

  • WHS mandatory — required in every compliant workplace first aid kit A first aid reference guide is a mandatory inclusion in WHS-compliant workplace first aid kits under the SafeWork Australia Code of Practice for First Aid. A kit without one does not pass a WHS audit. Replace if the booklet becomes wet, damaged, or illegible — a guide that cannot be read under pressure is not compliant.
  • Covers essential first aid procedures in clear, plain language Written for first aid officers, supervisors, and workplace responders who need step-by-step guidance on emergency procedures — not clinical staff who already know the protocols. Clear language, logical structure, and a format that allows the correct procedure to be located and followed quickly under the stress of a real incident. The guide that supports correct action when memory alone is not reliable enough.
  • Printed booklet — more comprehensive than a fold-out leaflet The booklet format covers a broader range of first aid procedures than a compact fold-out leaflet — suited to workplace first aid rooms, fixed kit locations, and any setting where a more complete reference is appropriate alongside the quick-reference leaflet in the kit bag. Printed on durable paper and designed to withstand kit storage conditions.
  • Compact, audit-ready, ships within 2 business days Compact enough to sit in a standard first aid kit bag, tackle box, or kit drawer without displacing other items. Replace during annual kit audits and after any incident where the booklet has been damaged or used. Ships from Dubbo, NSW within 2 business days.
Every workplace kit must include a first aid reference guide to meet WHS compliance — no exceptions. Use our First Aid Restock Form to track what has been used and stay audit-ready. Browse the full first aid kit supplies range for individual restock items.

FAQs

Is a first aid guide required in WHS-compliant workplace first aid kits?
Yes. A first aid reference guide is a mandatory inclusion in WHS-compliant workplace first aid kits under the SafeWork Australia Code of Practice for First Aid. A kit without a first aid guide does not meet the minimum standard and will be identified as non-compliant during a WHS audit.

What is the difference between this first aid guide booklet and the fold-out leaflet?
The fold-out leaflet is a compact quick-reference format covering CPR and core emergency steps — suited for kit bags and portable kits where space is limited. This booklet is a more comprehensive printed reference covering a broader range of first aid procedures — suited to workplace first aid rooms, fixed kit locations, and settings where a more detailed reference is appropriate alongside the quick-reference leaflet.

How often should the first aid guide be replaced?
Replace the guide during annual kit audits and after any incident where the booklet has been damaged, wet, or rendered illegible. A guide that cannot be read clearly in an emergency is not compliant and should be replaced immediately.

Who is this guide written for?
This first aid guide is written for workplace first aid officers, supervisors, and anyone responsible for providing first aid in a workplace setting — not clinical professionals. The language is plain and direct, designed for someone who needs to find and follow the correct procedure quickly under the stress of a real incident.

How quickly does this ship?
The First Aid Guide Booklet ships from Dubbo, NSW within 2 business days.

About Assurance First Aid Kits

It started back in 2008 when Samantha, a first aid trainer, kept getting the same question from her students: "But what kit should I actually buy?" After years of recommending products that didn't quite hit the mark, she and her partner Dan decided to build one themselves — right here in Dubbo, NSW.

Every kit is hand-assembled by Dan in our Dubbo store using 85% Australian-made components. No cheap fillers, no imported bulk packs — just quality gear that works when it matters most.

Samantha still trains, alongside Max and Neil, delivering nationally recognised first aid courses in Dubbo and surrounding areas. That real-world training experience is baked into every kit we build.

We're not a warehouse. We're not a big box retailer. We're a small Australian team who genuinely care whether you're prepared.
