Description

Adhesive tape does not work on hairy skin, wet skin, or skin that has been contaminated with blood or antiseptic. A conforming bandage does. The Conforming Bandage is the lightweight, stretchy gauze wrap used to hold wound dressings, ice packs, and splints in place over joints and limbs when tape is not an option — wrapping smoothly over contours without bunching, without restricting movement, and without requiring adhesive contact with the skin.

Non-adhesive, breathable, latex-free, and available in 5cm and 7.5cm widths to suit different limb sizes and applications. The standard dressing retention bandage in every compliant workplace first aid kit — and the item that makes the difference between a dressing that stays in place and one that does not.

  • Holds dressings, ice packs, and splints in place without adhesive The conforming bandage wraps over a wound dressing, ice pack, or splint and holds it in position through movement without requiring tape on the skin. Essential when the wound site or surrounding skin is wet, hairy, contaminated, or sensitive — situations where adhesive tape fails or is inappropriate. The secure wrap also prevents dressing shift during patient movement and transport.
  • Elastic and conforming — wraps joints and limbs without bunching The elastic stretch allows the bandage to follow the contour of joints and limbs without bunching or creating pressure points. Conforms to elbows, knees, ankles, and wrists — the high-movement areas where a rigid or non-conforming bandage would restrict movement or lift away from the surface. Lightweight and breathable for comfortable extended wear.
  • Available in 5cm and 7.5cm widths — select the right size for the application The 5cm width suits fingers, wrists, and smaller limb applications. The 7.5cm width suits ankles, forearms, and most standard adult limb applications. Select the width that provides adequate coverage of the dressing being secured — a bandage that is too narrow requires more wrapping passes and is less secure than the correct width applied correctly.
  • Latex-free, non-adhesive, WHS compliant — included in standard kit restock packs Latex-free for use across all skin types. Non-adhesive — no residue on skin or dressing on removal. WHS compliant and included as standard in our Type A and Type B workplace restock packs. Secure the end with tape or a bandage clip — clip not included. Ships from Dubbo, NSW within 2 business days.
For light compression of sprains and strains, the cotton crepe bandage is the correct format. For firm compression of significant soft tissue injuries, the heavyweight elastic conforming bandage provides greater compression. The conforming bandage is the correct tool for dressing retention and ice pack securing where adhesive is not practical. Download the Safety Data Sheet. FAQs

What is a conforming bandage used for in first aid?
A conforming bandage is used to hold wound dressings, ice packs, and splints in place over joints and limbs without adhesive contact with the skin. It is the correct tool when tape is not appropriate — on hairy, wet, contaminated, or sensitive skin — and wraps smoothly over contoured surfaces without bunching or restricting movement.

What is the difference between a conforming bandage and a crepe bandage?
A conforming bandage is a lightweight gauze wrap primarily used for dressing retention — holding a wound dressing, ice pack, or splint in place without compression. A cotton crepe bandage provides light compression for soft tissue support and dressing retention and has more body than the conforming gauze. For dressing retention where minimal bulk is needed, the conforming bandage is the correct choice. For compression of sprains and strains, the crepe bandage is more appropriate.

What widths are available?
Conforming bandages are available in 5cm and 7.5cm widths. The 5cm width suits fingers, wrists, and smaller limb applications. The 7.5cm width suits ankles, forearms, and most standard adult limb dressing retention applications. Select the width at checkout.

Is a conforming bandage required in WHS-compliant first aid kits?
Yes. Conforming bandages are a required inclusion in WHS-compliant workplace first aid kits and are included as standard in our Type A and Type B workplace restock packs.

Is this bandage latex-free?
Yes. These conforming bandages are latex-free and non-adhesive, suitable for all skin types including sensitive skin and environments where latex sensitivity cannot be confirmed.

About Assurance First Aid Kits

It started back in 2008 when Samantha, a first aid trainer, kept getting the same question from her students: "But what kit should I actually buy?" After years of recommending products that didn't quite hit the mark, she and her partner Dan decided to build one themselves — right here in Dubbo, NSW.

Every kit is hand-assembled by Dan in our Dubbo store using 85% Australian-made components. No cheap fillers, no imported bulk packs — just quality gear that works when it matters most.

Samantha still trains, alongside Max and Neil, delivering nationally recognised first aid courses in Dubbo and surrounding areas. That real-world training experience is baked into every kit we build.

We're not a warehouse. We're not a big box retailer. We're a small Australian team who genuinely care whether you're prepared.
