Description

Burns are one of the most common workplace injuries — and the first few minutes of treatment make a real difference to outcome. The correct first aid response for a minor burn is 20 minutes of cool running water, followed by a sterile burn gel to soothe pain and protect the site. This 3.5g Burn Gel Sachet is the second step — a sterile, single-use hydrogel formula that goes on after the water, limits further tissue damage, and keeps the burn site hydrated until professional care is available.

Made with over 90% water, the hydrogel formula works by cooling the burn site on contact, relieving pain, and maintaining a moist wound environment that supports healing. Water-based, latex-free, and non-toxic — safe for all skin types and practical for any kit where burns are a realistic risk.

  • Sterile 3.5g single-use sachet — hydrogel formula over 90% water The high water content is not incidental — it is the mechanism. The hydrogel cools the burn site on contact, relieves pain by reducing heat at the tissue level, and maintains the moist environment that supports faster healing. Sterile and single-use, so the sachet is ready for immediate application without contamination risk.
  • For use after 20 minutes of cool running water Burn gel is the second step in burn first aid, not the first. ANZCOR guidelines recommend 20 minutes of cool running water before any gel or dressing is applied — cooling under water removes heat from the tissue, which gel alone cannot replicate. Apply the sachet after the water step to soothe, protect, and limit further damage while waiting for medical assessment.
  • Suitable for minor burns, scalds, and sunburn — water-based, latex-free, non-toxic Water-based formula with no latex and no toxic components — safe for all skin types including children. Suitable for contact burns from hot tools and surfaces, scalds from hot liquids, and sunburn. Not suitable for chemical burns, electrical burns, or burns larger than a palm — these require immediate emergency services.
  • Compact sachet — required for WHS-compliant kits in heat and chemical environments The 3.5g sachet format fits in any first aid kit, vehicle kit, or sports bag without bulk. WHS guidelines require burn treatment supplies in kits where heat, hot tools, hot liquids, or chemicals are present — which covers most trade, manufacturing, hospitality, and laboratory environments. Ships from Dubbo, NSW within 2 business days.
Burn gel sachets are one of the most commonly used and most commonly missing items in restocked workplace kits — replaced after use but not always reordered promptly. FAQs

How do I use burn gel in first aid?
Burn gel is the second step in burn first aid, not the first. ANZCOR guidelines recommend cooling a minor burn under cool running water for 20 minutes before applying any gel or dressing. After the 20-minute cooling step, apply the burn gel sachet directly to the burn site to soothe pain, protect the area, and limit further tissue damage while waiting for medical assessment.

Why does burn gel need to be applied after 20 minutes of cool running water?
Cool running water removes heat from the tissue at the burn site — a process that takes 20 minutes to be effective. Burn gel cannot replicate this heat-removal function. Applying gel before completing the water cooling step does not adequately cool the burn and may trap heat in the tissue. The water step comes first, the gel comes after.

What burns is this gel suitable for?
This burn gel is suitable for minor burns and scalds from hot surfaces, hot tools, hot liquids, and sunburn. It is not suitable for chemical burns, electrical burns, or burns larger than the palm of the hand. These require immediate emergency services — call 000.

Is burn gel required in WHS-compliant first aid kits?
Yes. WHS guidelines require burn treatment supplies in first aid kits for any workplace where heat, hot tools, hot liquids, or chemicals are present. This covers most trade, manufacturing, hospitality, laboratory, and construction environments. Burn gel sachets are a standard inclusion in Type A and Type B workplace first aid kits.

Is this burn gel safe for children?
Yes. The water-based, latex-free, non-toxic formula is safe for all skin types including children. For any burn injury in a child, always seek medical assessment after providing first aid.

Is this a single-use product?
Yes. Each 3.5g sachet is sterile and single-use. Once opened, the sachet should be used immediately and not resealed or reused. Replace used sachets promptly to keep your kit compliant and ready.

How quickly does this ship?

About Assurance First Aid Kits

It started back in 2008 when Samantha, a first aid trainer, kept getting the same question from her students: "But what kit should I actually buy?" After years of recommending products that didn't quite hit the mark, she and her partner Dan decided to build one themselves — right here in Dubbo, NSW.

Every kit is hand-assembled by Dan in our Dubbo store using 85% Australian-made components. No cheap fillers, no imported bulk packs — just quality gear that works when it matters most.

Samantha still trains, alongside Max and Neil, delivering nationally recognised first aid courses in Dubbo and surrounding areas. That real-world training experience is baked into every kit we build.

We're not a warehouse. We're not a big box retailer. We're a small Australian team who genuinely care whether you're prepared.
