Description

Wound cleaning is where infection is prevented — and an antiseptic swab is the tool that does it properly. Povidone-iodine is a broad-spectrum antiseptic with a long clinical track record for skin preparation and wound cleansing, killing bacteria, fungi, and many viruses on contact. These individually sealed twin swabs deliver a precise, controlled amount of 10% povidone-iodine solution directly to a wound or skin surface without a bottle, a cotton ball, or any additional equipment.

Included as standard in our workplace kit restock packs for exactly this reason — the step that happens before a dressing goes on is the step that determines whether the wound stays clean. Pack of 10 twin swabs — 20 swabs total — individually sealed for sterility and single use.

  • 10% povidone-iodine — broad-spectrum antiseptic for wound cleansing and skin prep Povidone-iodine at 10% concentration is an effective broad-spectrum antiseptic against bacteria, fungi, and many viruses. Used clinically for wound cleansing, pre-procedural skin preparation, and minor cut and abrasion management. The twin swab format delivers the solution directly and precisely to the wound site — no bottle to open, no cotton to saturate, no mess.
  • Twin swab format — precise, controlled application Each sealed pack contains two swabs — enough to cleanse the wound and the surrounding skin separately, or to cover a larger wound surface without cross-contaminating the swab between passes. The twin format is the standard for clinical skin preparation and delivers better wound coverage than a single swab without requiring additional supplies.
  • Individually sealed — sterile, single-use, no mess Each twin pack is individually sealed to maintain sterility until use. Single-use construction eliminates cross-contamination risk between patients or wound sites. No liquid bottle to spill, no cotton wool to source separately — open, apply, and discard. The format that works in a kit bag, on a worksite, and in a vehicle without creating a secondary mess.
  • Pack of 10 twin swabs — 20 swabs total, WHS compliant Antiseptic swabs are a required inclusion in WHS-compliant workplace first aid kits. The pack of 10 provides enough for multiple incidents or thorough single-wound preparation without running out mid-treatment. Replace promptly after use to keep the kit compliant and ready. Ships from Dubbo, NSW within 2 business days.
A standard restock item for every workplace, school, sports, and event first aid kit. Use our First Aid Restock Form to track what has been used and stay audit-ready. Browse the full first aid kit supplies range for individual restock items.

FAQs

What are povidone-iodine swabs used for in first aid?
Povidone-iodine swabs are used to cleanse minor cuts, abrasions, and grazes before dressing is applied, and to prepare skin prior to procedures. The 10% povidone-iodine solution is a broad-spectrum antiseptic effective against bacteria, fungi, and many viruses, reducing infection risk at the wound site before it is covered.

What is the difference between povidone-iodine swabs and alcohol-free cleansing wipes?
Alcohol-free cleansing wipes mechanically clean the wound surface and surrounding skin. Povidone-iodine swabs deliver an antiseptic agent that actively kills bacteria, fungi, and many viruses on contact. Both are included in compliant workplace first aid kits because they serve different functions — cleansing wipes clean the wound, povidone-iodine swabs disinfect it.

Why are these swabs in twin packs?
The twin pack format provides two swabs per sealed unit — enough to cleanse the wound and the surrounding skin separately without cross-contaminating the swab between passes, or to cover a larger wound surface with adequate antiseptic coverage. The twin format is the standard for clinical skin preparation.

Are povidone-iodine swabs required in WHS-compliant first aid kits?
Yes. Antiseptic swabs are a required inclusion in WHS-compliant workplace first aid kits under the SafeWork Australia Code of Practice for First Aid. They are a standard restock item across workplace, school, sports, and event first aid kits.

Are these swabs suitable for use on all skin types?
Povidone-iodine swabs are generally suitable for most skin types for wound cleansing and skin preparation. Do not use on known iodine sensitivity or allergy. Avoid use on large wound areas, deep wounds, or for extended periods without medical guidance. If irritation occurs, discontinue use and seek medical advice.

About Assurance First Aid Kits

It started back in 2008 when Samantha, a first aid trainer, kept getting the same question from her students: "But what kit should I actually buy?" After years of recommending products that didn't quite hit the mark, she and her partner Dan decided to build one themselves — right here in Dubbo, NSW.

Every kit is hand-assembled by Dan in our Dubbo store using 85% Australian-made components. No cheap fillers, no imported bulk packs — just quality gear that works when it matters most.

Samantha still trains, alongside Max and Neil, delivering nationally recognised first aid courses in Dubbo and surrounding areas. That real-world training experience is baked into every kit we build.

We're not a warehouse. We're not a big box retailer. We're a small Australian team who genuinely care whether you're prepared.
