- Meets Safe Work Australia guidelines for low to moderate risk workplaces of up to 10 people — not sure if this is the right kit for your situation? Read our WHS first aid kit guide first
- Lockable weather-resistant cabinet — mount it on the wall, bolt it in place, and it stays put in workshops, warehouses, offices and shared spaces
- Hospital-grade contents including burn gel sachets, sodium chloride eyewash ampoules, thermal blanket and full wound management supplies — see the full WHS kit contents breakdown if you want to know what each item is there for
- Packed and inspected by hand in Dubbo, NSW — every item checked before it leaves the workshop
The wall-mounted cabinet suits any fixed location where the kit needs to be immediately visible, shared across a team, and clearly identifiable in an emergency. Offices, admin blocks, workshops, warehouses, training rooms — anywhere a portable bag is not the right answer. Browse the full WHS workplace kit range if you want to compare this against the tackle box or soft bag options.
We also send you a 12-month audit reminder with a maintenance checklist so your kit stays compliant without you having to remember. When it is time to restock, refill packs are available directly at assurancefirstaidkits.com.au.
Workplace Compliant
Workplace Compliant
This first aid kit is designed to align with the Model Code of Practice: First Aid in the Workplace, published by Safe Work Australia.
You can view the official Code here:
Safe Work Australia – Model Code of Practice: First Aid in the Workplace
https://www.safeworkaustralia.gov.au/doc/model-code-practice-first-aid-workplace
This Code provides practical guidance on how businesses can meet their duties under the Work Health and Safety (WHS) laws.
What legal framework do workplace first aid kits fall under?
Workplace first aid requirements are governed by:
Safe Work Australia
https://www.safeworkaustralia.gov.au
Under the national framework:
- Work Health and Safety Act
- Work Health and Safety Regulations
- Model Code of Practice: First Aid in the Workplace
Each state and territory regulator enforces WHS laws locally. These include:
- SafeWork NSW – https://www.safework.nsw.gov.au
- WorkSafe Victoria – https://www.worksafe.vic.gov.au
- Workplace Health and Safety Queensland – https://www.worksafe.qld.gov.au
- SafeWork SA – https://www.safework.sa.gov.au
- WorkSafe WA – https://www.worksafe.wa.gov.au
- WorkSafe Tasmania – https://worksafe.tas.gov.au
- NT WorkSafe – https://worksafe.nt.gov.au
- WorkSafe ACT – https://www.worksafe.act.gov.au
Employers must comply with their relevant state or territory regulator.
What does the Code of Practice require?
The Model Code of Practice requires businesses to assess:
- The type of work being carried out
- The hazards present
- The size and location of the workforce
- The distance from emergency medical services
- The number and location of first aid kits required
- The need for trained first aiders
It also requires first aid kits to:
- Contain appropriate and accessible equipment
- Be regularly maintained and restocked
- Be suitable for the specific workplace risk profile
Our workplace kits are structured to support these requirements.
They include hospital-grade consumables selected to manage common workplace injuries such as:
- Cuts and lacerations
- Burns
- Eye injuries
- Sprains and strains
- Minor to moderate bleeding
- Shock and exposure
Are your vehicle kits compliant for work vehicles?
Yes. Our vehicle kits are designed to align with WHS expectations for mobile workers, including:
- Trades
- Field service technicians
- Construction crews
- Remote or regional staff
They are compact, accessible, and structured to meet vehicle first aid requirements under WHS guidance.
For official vehicle guidance, refer to your relevant state WHS authority listed above.
Is buying your kit enough to be compliant?
A compliant kit is part of compliance — but not the entire requirement.
Under WHS laws, employers must:
- Conduct a workplace risk assessment
- Provide appropriate first aid facilities
- Ensure trained first aiders are available where required
- Maintain and review first aid arrangements regularly
Our kits are built to support compliance. Final responsibility for meeting WHS obligations remains with the employer.
How often should workplace first aid kits be checked?
The Model Code of Practice recommends regular inspection to ensure:
- No expired items
- Used items replaced promptly
- The kit remains suitable for current risks
We recommend scheduled checks at least every 3–6 months, or more frequently in higher-risk environments.
Can kits be customised for higher-risk workplaces?
Yes.
The Code requires that first aid equipment reflect the nature of workplace hazards.
For higher-risk industries, businesses may require additional modules such as:
- Burn treatment supplies
- Trauma or major bleed support
- Snake bite kits for regional worksites
This approach supports real-world capability — not just minimum compliance.
If you'd like, I can also:
- Add a formal compliance disclaimer block at the bottom
- Create a shortened compliance summary for product pages
- Or write a fully referenced compliance landing page designed for trade buyers
Tell me where this will sit on the site and I’ll refine it further.
FAQs
FAQs
Do any supplies in the first aid kits expire?
Where required an expiry date is on the individual item.
‘Shelf life’ is the term or period during which a component remains suitable for the intended use. An expiry date is the termination of shelf life, after which a percentage of the component, e.g., medical devices, may no longer function as intended.
See below for the expiry dates of our first aid kits contents that have an expiry:
- Adhesive dressings: 3 years
- Combine dressing: 5 years
- Cotton gauze swabs: 5 years
- Eye pads: 5 years
- Hydrogel: 2 years

Assurance First Aid Kits

1. Is this first aid kit WHS compliant for Australian workplaces?
Yes. This kit is designed to align with Australian Work Health and Safety (WHS) requirements for workplace first aid.
It includes the essential contents required for construction, trade and mobile work environments, helping businesses meet Safe Work Australia guidance for adequate first aid provision.
To remain compliant, the kit must also be maintained and restocked as required.
2. How do I know if this kit covers the right number of workers?
This kit is structured to support a specific number of people (for example 5, 10 or 25+ workers).
The correct size depends on the maximum number of workers present at one time, not the average. If your crew size fluctuates, it is safer to choose the larger capacity option to ensure adequate coverage.
3. Do the contents in this workplace first aid kit expire?
Yes. Certain components such as sterile dressings, saline and other consumables carry expiry dates.
Under WHS obligations, workplace first aid kits must be checked regularly to ensure contents are in date, unused items are intact, and supplies are replenished after use.
Routine inspections every 6–12 months are recommended, or more frequently on active construction sites.
4. What is the difference between the soft pack, tackle box and wall-mounted cabinet versions?
The difference is primarily about storage and work environment — not compliance.
A soft pack is suited to mobile tradies and service vehicles.
A tackle box provides structured internal organisation for utes and workshops.
A wall-mounted cabinet is ideal for fixed worksites where visibility and shared access are important.
Each format contains compliant, purpose-selected supplies. The choice depends on how and where you work.
5. Is this suitable for construction and high-risk trade environments?
This kit meets standard workplace first aid requirements.
However, if your work environment presents a risk of life-threatening traumatic injury — such as major bleeding from machinery, cutting tools, height work or heavy equipment — a dedicated Major Bleed module should be added.
High-risk construction and trade settings require additional trauma-specific equipment beyond a standard compliant kit. Adding a Major Bleed kit ensures your site is prepared for severe bleeding incidents where immediate intervention is critical.
Compliance is the baseline. Capability for real risk goes further.
